CHAMBER HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2012

Four new major programs enter our rolls this year.  On May 12, we inaugurate Chantilly Day.
an all-day event that begins with a parade and includes a business expo, a battle of the bands between Westfield and Chantilly High Schools, entertainment throughout the day, a car show, pet adoption, a business and community awards session, food court and sunset concert.  Supervisor Mike Frey will serve as our  Grand Marshal.

Our second new entry is our Innovations Symposium, link to attached Innovations document taking place in early November and sponsored by Cox Communications. Partnering with George Mason University, we will invite major speakers for our opening and closing sessions, our luncheon and our break-out sessions. There will a large expo area where we will display the innovations being created by today’s entrepreneurs. Our subject categories will include commerce, global business, humanity, earth, technology, infrastructure and military/government. This is planned as a major east coast event. Sponsorships for this amazing day are available.

Our third initiative is our Young  Professionals, which had an amazing  debut last week at Stone’s Cove Kitbar in Herndon. The group is primarily directed at those 35 and under and their mission involves networking, protégé opportunities and community involvement. We invite all our employers to identify their talented young execs and let them know about our new group. The next event will also be at Stone’s Cove Kitbar in Herndon on Feb. 13th.

Our fourth newcomer is Power of Thirty, our executive women’s group. Admission is selective; the synergy is amazing!  They meet bi-monthly and the next meeting will be on March 12. It is preceded by an elegant wine tasting at Maison du Vin and an Irish dinner at the Old Brogue. Contact Eileen curtis for all information. ecurtis@ dullesregionalchamber.org

Our Newsmaker Luncheons launched this past week with the new President of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority speaking on aviation and Rail to Dulles. Going forward, we are pleased to welcome Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, Director of the U.S. Olympics Women’s Track and Field Program, for our special Olympics Luncheon on April 24th. In early September we present our annual Bankers Luncheon and close with our Innovations Luncheon in November.

We are bringing forward a set of special breakfasts. In March we salute our non-profit community and invite everyone to attend this gathering of those who make the quality of life better for us all.

Our GovCON and Veteran & Military Support Committees team on our debuting T3: Training, Teaming, Transitioning. This half day event launches with a breakfast with a major speaker and continues with an expo where interested businesses can engage with companies or individuals seeking training, teaming or transitioning opportunities.

In May we will salute our educators as present our Educators of the Year Awards, drawn from our partners Centreville, Chantilly, Herndon, Mountain View Alternative and Westfield High Schools, as well as Chantilly Academy. We’ll also honor our STEM scholarship winners.

This fall, we’ll present a Candidates breakfast so that our businesses and citizens can take stock of the platforms of those running for local, state and national office.
